A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND MICHAEL P. JOHNSON FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND CONGRATULATE HIM UPON ALL HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
WHEREAS, Michael P. Johnson is Senior Vice President of Human Resources for the Williams group of companies; and
WHEREAS, reporting to the chairman and CEO, he is responsible for leading all aspects of human resources for this 23,000-employee organization; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson serves as a Senior Officer of the parent company and a Director for Williams Communications, Williams Energy Services, Williams Gas Pipelines and Williams International; and
WHEREAS, prior to coming to Williams, Mr. Johnson held officer level positions for Amoco Corporation, including Vice President of Human Relations for Amoco Production Company, Vice President for Corporate People Strategies and Vice President, Human Resources Services; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's professional and community involvement include Director, Executive Leadership Council Foundation (ELF); Chairman, Technology Transfer Program (ELF); Board Member and Director, John Starks Educational Foundation; Director, Simon Estes Educational Foundation; Board Member, City of Tulsa Workforce Investment Board; North Carolina Central University Business Advisory Council; and Council of Senior Human Resource Executives for The Conference Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson's past community involvement has been significant, including Chairman, Metropolitan Orlando Urban League; Chairman, Orange County School System Career Advisory Committee; Director, Chicago City College Foundation; Director, EHS Good Shepherd Hospital; Director, INROADS/Chicago; WMFE Public Broadcasting Corporation; and Orlando Aviation Authority (gubernatorial appointment); and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson also served as a Director of the Amoco Corporation Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson holds a BS from North Carolina Central University and attended graduate school at the Florida Institute of Technology; and
WHEREAS, he is married to Elizabeth Moore Johnson and has two sons, Michael, Jr., and Paul; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson is scheduled to be honored for his outstanding achievements on July 1, 2000:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That we do hereby commend Michael P. Johnson for his outstanding achievements and congratulate him upon all his accomplishments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Johnson.
