A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MURRAH HIGH SCHOOL "LADY MUSTANG" GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Murrah High School "Lady Mustang" Girls Basketball Team completed its spectacular 1999-2000 season by winning the 5A State Championship; and
WHEREAS, this victory was the culmination of a truly outstanding season which posted a 32 and 1 record; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Mustangs won the Division 4 5A Championship and the 5A North State Regional Championship and were runners-up in the Pepsi Holiday Classic on their way to the state championship; and
WHEREAS, the team was ably coached by Anna V. Jackson and assistants Charles Dillon and Marvin Jackson, who molded this squad into a championship unit; and
WHEREAS, the team roster of the 1999-2000 Lady Mustangs is as follows: Shaneka Jones, Ebony Felder, Crystal Jackson, Alicia Jenkins, Raven Rogers, LaTonya Johnson, Christina Buford, Ninette Ayivor, Navorda Moore, Sharon Hurley, Felicia Farrar, Olicia King, Anna Vance, Lashundra Speech and Managers Avana Hudson, Quentessa Jackson, LaToya Marshall and Lakesha Fairley; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize the excellence of this group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the 1999-2000 Murrah High School "Lady Mustang" Girls Basketball Team for winning the 5A State Championship, and wish them continued success in their future athletic and scholastic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Anna Jackson and Principal Karen Wilson on behalf of the team, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
