A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE COMMISSION ON WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS TO NAME THE PUBLIC LANDING AT MCINTYRE SCATTERS IN HONOR OF AVERY WOOD IN RECOGNITION OF HIS SERVICE AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ENHANCEMENT OF HUNTING, FISHING, CAMPING AND OTHER WILDLIFE OPPORTUNITIES AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE CITIZENS OF MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, Avery Wood is a former Director of the Game and Fish Commission, now the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, and the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks; and
WHEREAS, Avery Wood was committed and dedicated to obtaining land for outdoor recreational opportunities for the citizens of the state; and
WHEREAS, Avery Wood's commitment and dedication to providing outdoor opportunities to the citizens culminated in the creation of the Wildlife Heritage Program during his tenure as Director of the Game and Fish Commission; and
WHEREAS, Avery Wood played a pivotal role in creating the Wildlife Heritage Program; and
WHEREAS, the Wildlife Heritage Program was a tremendously successful program in obtaining land for hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor recreational activities for the citizens of the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby memorialize the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to name the public landing at McIntyre Scatters in honor of Avery Wood in recognition of his service and contributions to the enhancement of hunting, fishing, camping and other wildlife opportunities and recreational activities for the citizens of the State of Mississippi.
