A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACHING STAFF OF MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE SOUTH STATE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A 24-7 SEASON RECORD.

WHEREAS, the women's basketball team of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College District won the Mississippi Community College South State and State Championships for the 2000 season; and

WHEREAS, these athletic feats accomplished by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldog basketball team are indicative of sportsmanship and impressive qualities of athletic achievement and demonstrate superior coaching and leadership by Coaches Greg Holmes and Carolyn Patterson; and

WHEREAS, the roster of this championship team is as follows:

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding accomplishments by Mississippians, and it is with great pride that we recognize this group of student athletes which has brought honor to their college and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the entire 2000 women's basketball team of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College District; Coaches Greg Holmes and Carolyn Patterson, for their fine sportsmanship, athletic achievements and demonstrated leadership, and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Coach Greg Holmes, Coach Carolyn Patterson, and to each player and others listed, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
