A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MERIDIAN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE STATE AAAAA CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Meridian High School Girls Softball Team won the State Championship in the Division 5, Class 5 category; and
WHEREAS, in 1999, the Meridian High School Lady Wildcats also won the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats finished the season with a superb 33 wins and 9 losses; and
WHEREAS, the team roster is as follows: Stephanie Birdsong; Laura Bowles; Kim Boyd; Ashley Brown; Tijwana Collins; Andra Daniels; Brooke Gabriel; Deanna Harris; Eron Hodgins; Stephanie Mosley; Erin Murphy; Stephanie Nelson; Terri Nelson; Britney Peck; Kim Ruffin; Ramey Rush; Valerie Sherman; and Elizabeth Thomas; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Wildcats were very ably coached by Mike Thomas, who fine-tuned the players' athletic skills and instilled a team attitude; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this fine group of Mississippi student athletes, who have brought honor to their school, community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Meridian High School Girls Softball Team upon winning the State AAAAA Championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Meridian High School and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
