A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE BOONEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "BLUE DEVILS" BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE STATE 2A CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Booneville High School "Blue Devils" Boys Baseball Team capped a spectacular 1999 season by winning the State 2A Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Blue Devils completed the 1999 season with an impressive 31-4 record; and

WHEREAS, the team was ably coached by Coach Rick Coggin and Assistant Coaches Riley Presley and Jody Presley, who molded the individual skills of each player into a solid team; and

WHEREAS, the following members of the team were named to the All-Division squad: Eric Davis, Bart Cox, Chuck Spearman, Justin Ashmore, Kevin Flurry and David Carnell; and

WHEREAS, the Blue Devils won the Division 1-2A Championship and the Class 2A North-Half Regional Championship on their way to the State Championship Tournament; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this group of talented student-athletes, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Booneville High School "Blue Devils" Baseball Team and Coach Rick Coggin for winning the State Class 2A Championship and for their spectacular 1999 season, and wish them continued success in their academic and athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Coggin and the Principal of Booneville High School on behalf of the team, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
