AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE INSTALLATION OF A SYSTEM FOR FILTERING OR BLOCKING MATTER ON THE INTERNET ON COMPUTERS IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES WITH INTERNET ACCESS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. This act may be cited as the "Safe Schools Internet Act of 2000."
SECTION 2. The principal of every elementary or secondary school or the local school board or superintendent with responsibility for administration of that school shall select a system for computers with Internet access to filter or block matter deemed to be inappropriate for minors and will install as soon as it obtains computers with any Internet access, a system to filter or block such matter.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
