AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-7-79, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT SHOOTING UPON OR ACROSS THE LANDS OF ANOTHER; TO PROHIBIT SUCH HUNTING WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE LANDOWNER; TO PROVIDE A PENALTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 49-7-79, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
49-7-79. (1) It is unlawful to hunt, shoot, or trap or otherwise trespass on the lands or leases of another without the permission of the landowner or lessee of the land. It is unlawful to shoot upon or across or to discharge any object upon or across the land or leases of another without the permission of the landowner or lessee.
(2) A violation of this section is a Class II violation and is punishable as provided in Section 49-7-143.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
