AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 77-9-717, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE COMPANIES THAT PROVIDE FACILITIES FOR THE TRANSMISSION OF SIGNALS BY LINES, WIRE, CABLE OR FIBER TO EXERCISE THE RIGHT OF EMINENT DOMAIN FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING NEW LINES, CONDUITS, CABLES, WIRES, FIBER AND NECESSARY FACILITIES IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 77-9-717, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
77-9-717. Telegraph companies, telephone companies and other companies that provide facilities for the transmission of signals, in any form, by lines, wire, cable or fiber, for the purpose of constructing new lines, conduits, cables, wires, fiber and necessary facilities in connection therewith, are empowered to exercise the right of eminent domain, as provided in Chapter 27 of Title 11, Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
