AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 861, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1990, TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI, TO INCREASE ITS ANNUAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE HATTIESBURG AREA EDUCATION FOUNDATION BEGINNING WITH THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2000, THROUGH THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2004; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Chapter 861, Local and Private Laws of 1990, is amended as follows:

Section 1. (1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2) of this section, the governing authorities of the City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to contribute to the Hattiesburg Area Education Foundation, out of any available funds, annually, an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00).

(2) Beginning with the fiscal year ending September 30, 2000, through the fiscal year ending September 30, 2004, the governing authorities of the City of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to contribute to the Hattiesburg Area Education Foundation, out of any available funds, annually, an amount not to exceed Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00).

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
