AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI, ACTING THROUGH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING, AND THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO EXCHANGE CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY LOCATED IN LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) In consideration for the conveyance of property authorized in Section 2 of this act, the Mississippi Department of Transportation is authorized to transfer and convey to the University of Mississippi, acting through the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, all of the right, title and interest in certain real property located within the County of Lafayette, described more specifically as follows:
From the Southeast Corner of the Northeast 1/4 of
Section 29, Township 8 South, Range 3 West, run
thence West 1644.0 feet to the point of beginning;
thence South 17° 16' West, 328.7 feet; thence South
89° 20' West, 967.7 feet; thence Westerly along a
line that is 150.0 feet Northerly of and parallel to
the center line of Federal Aid Project #F-020-1 (4),
a distance of 233.8 feet, to a point on grantor's West property line; thence North 44° 11' East along grantor's
said West property line, a distance of 372.9 feet;
thence East, a distance of 1032.2 feet to the point
of beginning, containing 8.18 acres, more or less,
situated in the Northeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4
and the Northwest 1/4 of the Southeast 1/4 of Section
29, Township 8 South, Range 3 West, Lafayette County, Mississippi.
(2) The conveyance authorized in this section may be subject to additional terms and conditions accepted and agreed upon by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the University of Mississippi.
SECTION 2. (1) In consideration for the conveyance of property authorized in Section 1 of this act, the University of Mississippi, acting through the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, is authorized to purchase certain real property located in Lafayette County, Mississippi, and to transfer all of the right, title and interest of that property to the Mississippi Department of Transportation, such property described more specifically as follows:
A 16.0 acres more or less, fraction of land in
the NE 1/4, SE 1/4 and SW 1/4 of Section 21,
Township 9 South, Range 3 West, Lafayette County,
Mississippi, lying East of Highway 7 South and being described in more detail as follows:
Commencing at an iron rod found at the NW/cor of
the SE 1/4 of Section 21; run thence north along a
fence line for 841.5 feet to a fence corner; run
thence along a fence South 41 degrees 25 minutes
East for 1122.2 feet to an iron pipe in fence line;
run thence leaving fence South 69 degrees 17 minutes
30 seconds West for 774.91 feet to an iron rod; run
thence South for 155.91 feet to an iron rod; run
thence West for 673.47 feet to the East right of way
of Highway 7 South; run thence along right of way
North 0 degrees 54 minutes East for 430.05 feet to
an iron rod; run thence along a fence East for 649.2
feet to the point of beginning.
And also a strip of land 50 foot wide that is described
as follows: a centerline description being 50 foot
wide 25 feet right and left of centerline along an
existing paved road; commencing at an iron rod at the
NW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 21; run thence West
along fence line for 649.2 feet to the East right of way
of Highway 7 South; run thence along right of way South
0 degrees 54 minutes West for 455.05 feet to the center
line of road and the point of beginning; run thence along
road East for 648.47 feet to intersection of road; run thence along road North for 180.0 feet to the property line.
(2) The conveyance authorized in this section may be subject to additional terms and conditions accepted and agreed upon by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and the University of Mississippi.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
