A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PETAL HIGH SCHOOL BAND UPON RECEIVING THE AMERICAN SCHOOL BAND DIRECTOR'S ASSOCIATION AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR 1999-2000.

WHEREAS, the Petal High School Band received the American School Band Director's Association Award of Excellence for 1999-2000, which recognizes the top band program in each state; and

WHEREAS, in addition, the Petal High School Band has been recognized as Grand Champions of the Festival of Music in Raceland, Louisiana; Class Champions at the WGI Friendship Cup Regionals in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; All Superior for the ninth consecutive year at the State Marching Festival; and All Superior for the fourth consecutive year at the State Band Festival; and

WHEREAS, several of the band members have been recognized for their exceptional talent and chosen to participate in the 1999-2000 All-State Band including, Hope Bazor, Adam Conerly, Allison Ellzey, Jennifer Ellzey, Paul Forestor, William Garner, Ashley Henderson, Robyn Holmes, Joseph Ingram, Tony McGwon, Zach Smith and Heather Williams; and

WHEREAS, for the past four years, the Petal High School Band has had more members of the All-State Band than any other high school in Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the Petal High School Band is directed by Mr. Terry Ingram and assisted by Mr. Walter McIntosh and Mrs. Juna Sandifer, who have broadened the students knowledge and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Petal High School Band, Director Terry Ingram and Assistant Directors Mr. Walter McIntosh and Mrs. Juna Sandifer upon receiving the American School Band Director's Association Award of Excellence and extend heartiest wishes for all their future academic and musical endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Petal High School, Director Terry Ingram and Assistant Directors Mr. Walter McIntosh and Mrs. Juna Sandifer and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
