A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. ANN WHITE UPON BEING NAMED 1999-2000 YAZOO COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Ann White was recently named 1999-2000 Yazoo County Teacher of the Year and represented her district in a statewide contest; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. White, a resident of Flora, Mississippi, furthered her education at institutions of higher learning such as Hinds Community College, University of Mississippi and Holmes Community College; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. White earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Belhaven College, a Master's Degree in Education from Mississippi College and completed the World Class Teacher Program at the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, in the Fall of 1992, Mrs. White began teaching second grade at Madison Avenue Elementary School, and in 1994, she taught at East Flora Elementary; and

WHEREAS, currently, Mrs. White teaches third grade at Bentonia Gibbs Elementary School, where she teaches all subjects including reading, math, language, science and social studies; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. White is an active member of many professional organizations including the National Board of Professional Teachers, Mississippi Professional Educators, National Reading Association, Mississippi Reading Association, Phi Delta Kappa International and Phi Theta Kappa; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. White has received numerous awards and achievements such as Outstanding Educator in Madison County, Sweetest Teacher at East Flora Elementary School and Teacher of the Year at East Flora Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. White has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her late husband Odie White, Jr., and two children, Jim and Lee Ann; and

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend outstanding educators such as Mrs. Ann White, a teacher dedicated to guiding the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Ann White upon being named the 1999-2000 Yazoo County Teacher of the Year and express our deepest appreciation for her services as an elementary school teacher in the State of Mississippi.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Ann White and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
