A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE HOMOCHITTO RANGER DISTRICT FOR EARNING TOP HONORS FOR NATIONAL FOREST MANAGEMENT IN THE SOUTH.
WHEREAS, the Homochitto Ranger District, headquartered in Meadville on the National Forests in Mississippi, has earned the USDA Forest Service Southern Region's District of the Year Award for 1999; and
WHEREAS, the Homochitto Ranger District has received one of the highest honors presented by the Forest Services' Southern Region, recognizing outstanding achievements in caring for national forests, innovative hand stewardship, public service and team spirit among district employees; and
WHEREAS, more than 75 employees make up the team at the Homochitto Ranger District, which is located in the Southwestern region of the state; and
WHEREAS, the Homochitto National Forest serves as a popular hub for recreation enthusiasts and outdoor lovers from both Mississippi and southeastern Louisiana:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Homochitto Ranger District upon receiving the USDA Forest Service Southern Region's District of the Year Award for 1999.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to District Ranger Gary Bennett on behalf of the Homochitto Ranger District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
