House Concurrent Resolution 127
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MENDENHALL HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Mendenhall High School Tigers Basketball Team finished the 1999-2000 season with an outstanding record of 35 wins and only 5 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers Basketball Team won 29 of their final 30 games, defeating the Lanier Bulldogs for the Class 4A State Championship; and
WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed among the players, including senior captains Quentin Christian, Carey Crain and Jeff Hobbs; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach James Crain, who has broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, Coach Crain has brought additional honor to Mendenhall High School and the Tigers by being named the Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, since 1977, Coach Crain has coached the Mendenhall Tigers Basketball Team, compiling a record of 586 wins and 195 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Mendenhall High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend and congratulate the Mendenhall High School Tigers Basketball Team and Head Coach James Crain for their outstanding 1999-2000 season, for winning the Class 4A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mendenhall High School, Head Coach James Crain and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
