A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING WILLIAM R. PURDY UPON BEING SELECTED AS A FELLOW IN THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CONSTRUCTION LAWYERS.
WHEREAS, Mr. William R. Purdy, a resident of Jackson, Mississippi, has recently been selected as a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers, the highest distinction a construction lawyer can achieve; and
WHEREAS, Fellows of the College are limited to approximately 100 of the most prominent construction lawyers throughout the United States and in several foreign countries; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Purdy is the first Mississippi lawyer to ever be inducted into the American College of Construction Lawyers; and
WHEREAS, in addition, Mr. Purdy's law firm, Ott & Purdy, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary of specializing in construction law; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Purdy received his bachelor's degree and juris doctorate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Purdy is a member of several professional organizations including the Mississippi Bar Foundation, the Mississippi State Bar and the American Bar Association, where he serves on the Forum Committee on the Construction Industry, the Section of Public Contract Law and the Section of Litigation; and
WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. Purdy serves as the General Counsel for the Associated General Contractors of Mississippi, Inc., the Mississippi Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc., the Mississippi Road Builders' Association, Inc., and as Special Counsel for the Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, as an Infantry Company Commander of the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Purdy received the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Mr. William R. Purdy, whose long and distinguished career and national recognition bring great pride to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. William R. Purdy for being selected as a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. William R. Purdy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
