A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE WEST UNION LADY EAGLES BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1999-2000 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the West Union High School Lady Eagles Basketball Team completed an outstanding 1999-2000 regular season with a 22-13 record; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles were very respectable in tournament play, placing second in the Division 2 Class 1A Tournament and third in the North State Regional Tournament; and

WHEREAS, two members of the team, Candis Cooper and Lauren Johnson, made the All-State Class 1A Team; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles were superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Ken Basil, who broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the West Union High School Lady Eagles Basketball Team and Head Coach Ken Basil for their outstanding 1999-2000 season, and extend heartiest wishes for continued success in their future athletic and academic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to West Union High School, Head Coach Ken Basil and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
