House Concurrent Resolution 121

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NEW ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL LADY BULLDOGS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 1999-2000 SEASON.
WHEREAS, the New Albany High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team completed its 1999-2000 season with an outstanding record of 29 wins and 6 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs made the final 4 in the State 3A Championship Tournament, were Consolation Champions in the North State Regionals and won the Division 1-3A Tournament Championship, also winning the Walnut Tournament, the New Albany Tournament and placed second in the Union County Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Bulldogs were inspired and superbly coached by Head Coach Charles Poer and Assistant Coach Elke Lipsey, who broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the following outstanding players received tournament honors: Ellen Buchanan and Staranna Frazier, All-State Tournament Team, Ellen Buchanan, 1st Team All-State, Ellen Buchanan, Staranna Frazier and Kristen Ivy, All-North-Half Tournament Team, Ellen Buchanan, Staranna Frazier, Kristen Ivy, Nikky Pernell and Lauren Chunn, All-Division 1 Tournament Team; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the New Albany High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team, Head Coach Charles Poer and Assistant Coach Elke Lipsey for their outstanding 1999-2000 season, and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all their future academic and athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be furnished to New Albany High School, Head Coach Charles Poer, Assistant Coach Elke Lipsey and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
