A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. SHEILA BROWN FOR BEING SELECTED INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JEFFERSON DAVIS CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Dr. Sheila Brown, a resident of Pass Christian, Mississippi, has been selected Instructor of the Year at the Jefferson Davis Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by the students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Brown, a science instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Campus for the past 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Brown received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University, a master's degree from Loyola University, and her doctoral degree from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Dr. Brown has received many awards including the Mississippi Academy of Science Outstanding Community College Instructor; Lamplighters, Mississippi Science Teachers Association Outstanding College Teacher; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers such as Dr. Brown, who has dedicated her career to educating the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Sheila Brown for being selected Instructor of the Year at the Jefferson Davis Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Sheila Brown and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
