A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DR. JANIE BRENDEN FOR BEING SELECTED INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE JACKSON COUNTY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Dr. Janie Brenden, a resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, has been selected Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by the students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Brenden, an associate degree nursing instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Campus for the past nine years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Brenden received her associate degree from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of South Alabama, and her doctoral degree from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Dr. Brenden has received many awards including HEADWAE nominee for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who in American Nursing, nominated for Outstanding Associate Degree Nurse Educator, President/Vice President of the Gulf Coast Continuing Education Consortium, 1990 Mississippi Nurse of the Year; 1990 Outstanding Volunteer for Jackson County; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers such as Dr. Brenden, who has dedicated her career to educating the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Dr. Janie Brenden for being selected Instructor of the Year at the Jackson County Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Janie Brenden and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
