A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. NORA NEWBILL FOR BEING SELECTED INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE COMMUNITY CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Ms. Nora Newbill, a resident of McHenry, Mississippi, has been selected Instructor of the Year at the Community Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by the students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Newbill, an adult basic education instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Campus for the past five years; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Newbill received her associate degree from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus and her bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Ms. Newbill has received many awards including the 1997 Mississippi Association of Adult and Community Education Teacher of the Year, Honorable Mention in the Mississippi Literacy Network's Teacher of the Year Competition, Co-nominee with the McHenry Volunteer Fire Department for the 1995 GIVE Award-Group Category and Who's Who Among America's Teachers; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers such as Ms. Newbill, who has dedicated her career to educating the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Nora Newbill for being selected Instructor of the Year at the Community Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Nora Newbill and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
