A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. KATHRYN LEWIS FOR BEING SELECTED INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR AT THE PERKINSTON CAMPUS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

WHEREAS, Ms. Kathryn Lewis, a resident of Perkinston, Mississippi, has been selected Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of her distinguished service to the college; and

WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by the students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Lewis, a speech and theatre instructor, has been employed at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Campus for the past 31 years; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Lewis received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she also has completed additional studies; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Ms. Lewis has received many awards including the Cowboy Maloney Award for Outstanding Contributions to Theatre in Mississippi and the Southeast, named to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, named to Outstanding Educators of America and Outstanding Humanities Instructor; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding teachers such as Ms. Lewis, who has dedicated her career to educating the young people of this state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Kathryn Lewis for being selected Instructor of the Year at the Perkinston Campus of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend our heartiest wishes for continued success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Kathryn Lewis and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
