A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING DR. ROBERT "BOB" RAGAN FOR SERVING AS PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF DENTISTS.
WHEREAS, Dr. Robert "Bob" Ragan, is serving as the President of the American College of Dentists, an organization of elected members charged with developing high ethical standards and good human relations in the dental profession; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ragan, a native of Cleveland, Mississippi, earned the DDS from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1964; and
WHEREAS, after service in the military, Dr. Ragan returned to his hometown of Cleveland, where he has been in practice since 1966; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ragan has served the American College of Dentists in many positions such as chairman and secretary-treasurer of the Mississippi section; vice chairman of the tri-state section; and regent, vice president and president-elect of the national organization; and
WHEREAS, an active leader of his community, Dr. Ragan has served as president of the Ole Miss Bolivar County Alumni Association, a board member of the Friends of Delta State University Library, president of the Cleveland Country Club, president of the Delta Aquatic Club, president of the Crosstie Arts Council and president of the Cleveland Rotary Club; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Ragan has been lovingly supported by his wife, Marilyn, their five children and six grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Dr. Ragan, whose remarkable leadership brings honor to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Dr. Robert "Bob" Ragan upon his service as President of the American College of Dentists and extend our heartiest wishes for success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Robert "Bob" Ragan and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
