House Concurrent Resolution 100
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING DR. CLARA MAE WEATHERSBY FOR HER MANY OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
WHEREAS, Dr. Clara Mae Weathersby, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, has worked for 36 years as an educator in the Hattiesburg School District as a teacher, counselor, principal, administrator and director; and
WHEREAS, in addition, Dr. Weathersby has served 35 years as a Christian educator, serving as an instructor, director, district and state coordinator, academic dean, dean of curriculum and a religious education field worker at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Weathersby has furthered her education by attending higher institutions of learning such as the National School of Missions and Theology in Nashville, Tennessee; Tuskegee Institute in Alabama; Tennessee State University; University of Southern Mississippi and Lift Bible College; and
WHEREAS, in 1998, Dr. Weathersby received the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from Lift Bible College for her dedicated and committed service to Christian education and secular education; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Weathersby is the founder and coordinator of TRIUNE organization that offers Christian education activities to children, youth and adults of the community; and
WHEREAS, an active member of her community, Dr. Weathersby is a life member of the NAACP, an officer for the AARP, the National Area Coordinator for Pray USA and Praying and Fasting in South Mississippi, and the Christian Education Director at the Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend outstanding Mississippians such as Dr. Weathersby, who has dedicated her career to improving the quality of education for the young people of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Dr. Clara Mae Weathersby for her many outstanding accomplishments and express our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Dr. Clara Mae Weathersby and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
