A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE MISSISSIPPI YOUNG MEN AND YOUNG WOMEN UPON THEIR GRADUATION AS THE CLASS OF 2000 FROM THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ACADEMY AT WEST POINT, THE UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY AND THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY.

WHEREAS, these young Mississippians, along with other young women and men from all over the United States, will be graduating after four years of intense military, academic and physical fitness training; and

WHEREAS, the Class of 2000 graduates have met the requirements of a curriculum designed to develop character, discipline and other qualities necessary to become military leaders for our country; and

WHEREAS, as military officers, these graduates are making a commitment to live under the Military Honor Code, defend the United States Constitution and put their lives in harm's way if needed to defend the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the graduates from the United States Military Academy at West Point include cadets: Barnes Barton, Raymond, Mississippi; Adam Byrd, Louisville, Mississippi; Gabriel Kimble, Hazlehurst, Mississippi; and Adisa King, Jackson, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the graduates from the United States Naval Academy include the following cadets: Aaron Demeger, Biloxi, Mississippi; Price Chadwick, Jackson, Mississippi; Jerry "Chip" McMahon, Jackson, Mississippi; Christopher S. Myers, Meridian, Mississippi; Molly Salness, Lucedale, Mississippi; and Lucas Scoggin, Newton, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the graduates from the United States Air Force Academy include cadets: Christopher Allred, Summit, Mississippi; Christopher Israel, Florence, Mississippi; Marc Milligan, Iuka, Mississippi; Patrick Rayner, Laurel, Mississippi; and Charles L. Richmond, Tylertown, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young men and women of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Class of 2000 graduates from the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy and the United States Air Force Academy and extend heartiest wishes for success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
