A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF MR. ERNEST LYNN MCMURCHY, JR., AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

WHEREAS, Mr. Ernest Lynn McMurchy, Jr., affectionately known as "Skeeter," of Duncan, Mississippi, departed this life, causing great loss to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurchy attended the Duncan School, the Columbia Military Academy and graduated from the University of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurchy, a brave and courageous soldier, served this country and was wounded in World War II during the Normandy invasion; and

WHEREAS, an active member of his community, Mr. McMurchy was a member of several organizations including serving as a scoutmaster and town alderman for over 30 years and was a longtime member of the Board of Trustees for the Shelby School District; and

WHEREAS, a born leader, Mr. McMurchy also served as former president of the Bolivar County Planters Club, the Bolivar County Farm Bureau, the Shelby Rotary Club, the Farmer's Gin, the Delta Oil Mill and McMurchy Farms; and

WHEREAS, in addition, Mr. McMurchy served as former director of the Delta Council, the Bank of Bolivar County, the Clarksdale Production Credit and the Community Action Program; and

WHEREAS, Mr. McMurchy is survived by his lovely wife, the former Betty McWilliams; 3 children, Leslie, Lynn and Lon; and four granddaughters, Caroline, Erin, Mary Elise and Kelley; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and pay special tribute to such outstanding Mississippians as Mr. Ernest Lynn McMurchy, Jr.:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Mr. Ernest Lynn McMurchy, Jr., and express our deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Ernest Lynn McMurchy, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
