A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. LEASHA SEGARS UPON BEING NAMED 1999-2000 LEE COUNTY TEACHER OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Leasha Segars was recently named 1999-2000 Lee County Teacher of the Year and will represent her district in a statewide contest; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Segars, a native of Saltillo, Mississippi, was always trying to teach her six siblings to learn how to read and speak correctly; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Segars graduated from Saltillo High School in 1978, but did not attend college until 1990, graduating with a 4.0; and
WHEREAS, in the fall of 1994, Mrs. Segars began teaching fifth grade at Saltillo Elementary School and moved to the fourth grade the next year, remaining there for the past 5 years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Segars has been lovingly supported in all her endeavors by her husband, Mike, and three children, Lindsay, Dianna and John Michael; and
WHEREAS, this Legislature finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend outstanding educators such as Mrs. Leasha Segars, a teacher dedicated to guiding the young people of this state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Leasha Segars upon being named the 1999-2000 Lee County Teacher of the Year and express our deepest appreciation for her services as an elementary school teacher in the State of Mississippi.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Leasha Segars and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
