A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF HINDS COUNTY COURT JUDGE C.A. "CHET" HENLEY, AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Hinds County Court Judge C.A. "Chet" Henley, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, departed this life on Thursday, November 11, 1999, causing great loss to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from Byram High School, Judge Henley earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Mississippi and his doctorate of jurisprudence from the Jackson School of Law in 1972; and
WHEREAS, Judge Henley practiced law for 17 years and served as a special master for the Chancery Court and as a Youth Court Referee; and
WHEREAS, Judge Henley was elected Hinds County Court Judge in 1989, where he presided over county and youth court matters; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his duties with the court, Judge Henley was an adjunct professor at Hinds Community College in Raymond and Mississippi College in Clinton; and
WHEREAS, Judge Henley is survived by his wife, Karen, his four children and three grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the State of Mississippi to recognize outstanding Mississippians such as Judge Henley for his many years of dedication and professionalism in the fields of law and teaching:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the life and accomplishments of Judge C.A. "Chet" Henley and extend our deepest sympathy to his family upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Judge C.A. "Chet" Henley and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
