A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING BOONEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL BLUE DEVILS BASEBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE OVERALL CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the Booneville High School Blue Devils Baseball Team finished the 1998-1999 season with a remarkable record of 31 wins and 4 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Blue Devils defeated several teams in the state playoffs, winning the Division 1 Class 2A Championship, the Class 2A North State Championship and the Overall Class 2A State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Blue Devils have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Rick Coggin and Assistant Coaches Riley Presley and Jody Presley, who have broadened the Blue Devils knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Rick Coggin received the N.E.M.C.A.B.B. Coach of the Year Award, bringing additional honor to Booneville High School and the baseball team; and
WHEREAS, the Blue Devils have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Booneville High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Booneville High School Baseball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Rick Coggin and Assistant Coaches Riley Presley and Jody Presley, for their outstanding 1998-1999 season, for winning the Overall Class 2A State Championship and for displaying tireless efforts in their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Booneville High School, Head Coach Rick Coggin and Assistant Coaches Riley Presley and Jody Presley and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
