A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING WAYNE ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL JAGUARS FOOTBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1999 SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE OVERALL CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Wayne Academy High School Jaguars Football Team finished the 1999 season with an outstanding record of 10 wins and 3 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars defeated several teams in the state playoffs, winning the District 3A Championship, the North 3A State Championship and the Overall Class 1A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars shut out three teams this season, scoring a total of 338 points during the season while limiting their opponents to a total of only 113 points; and

WHEREAS, many individual honors have been bestowed upon various team members in recognition of the fine, dedicated play this season, including: Shane Giles, Andrew Hutto, Anthony Hutto, Brooks James, Dustin Lofton, Ryan McCaa, Brock Stanley, Josh Tate, Jay Tynes, John Walker and Arthur Wood; and

WHEREAS, the Wayne Academy High School Jaguars have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Billy Caston and Assistant Coaches Tony Bishop, Gary Gore, John Walker and Sean Womack, who have broadened the Jaguars' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Caston has brought additional honor to Wayne Academy High School for being named the District 3A Coach of the Year and the MPSA All-Star Coach; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Wayne Academy High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Wayne Academy High School Jaguars Football Team and their coaches Head Coach Billy Caston and Assistant Coaches Tony Bishop, Gary Gore, John Walker and Sean Womack for their outstanding 1999 season, for winning the Overall Class 1A State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to the athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Wayne Academy High School, Head Coach Billy Caston and Assistant Coaches Tony Bishop, Gary Gore, John Walker and Sean Womack.
