AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF CANTON TO UTILIZE AND EXPEND ANY EXCESS FUNDS GENERATED BY A CITY-OWNED SANITARY LANDFILL THAT ARE NOT NECESSARY FOR THE OPERATION OF THE LANDFILL OR FOR THE CITY'S COMPLIANCE WITH GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS REGARDING THE LANDFILL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Canton, Mississippi, in their discretion, are authorized to utilize and expend, for any proper municipal purpose, any excess funds generated by a city-owned sanitary landfill that are not necessary for the operation of the landfill or for the city's compliance with any local, state or federal regulations regarding the landfill.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
