AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF TUNICA, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE TUNICA COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE; TO REQUIRE THE TUNICA COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO HAVE ITS BOOKS AUDITED BY A CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Tunica, Mississippi, in their discretion, is authorized to contribute moneys from any available funds in an amount not to exceed the aggregate sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) during the calendar year 2000, to the Tunica County Chamber of Commerce.
The Tunica County Chamber of Commerce shall have its books audited, within six (6) months after the end of calendar year 2000, by a certified public accountant. The audit shall be performed in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and the financial statements shall be prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. The audit report shall include supplemental schedules of expenditures for travel, salaries, legal services and audit services, showing for each individual expenditure (a) to whom the expenditure was made, (b) the amount of the expenditure, and (c) an explanation of why the expenditure was made. The audit report shall be published, within thirty (30) days after being received by the chamber, in at least one (1) newspaper having general circulation in Tunica County.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
