AN ACT TO DESIGNATE A CERTAIN SEGMENT OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAY 468 IN RANKIN COUNTY AS A STATE HIGHWAY AND PLACE IT UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE MISSISSIPPI TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE IF NECESSARY RIGHTS-OF-WAY ARE PROVIDED BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT; TO PROVIDE THAT THE MISSISSIPPI TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION SHALL PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION OF FOUR LANES, OR FIVE LANES IF NEEDED, ALONG SUCH SEGMENT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The mileage of highway specifically designated in subsection (2) of this section is in addition to the total mileage limitation of eight thousand six hundred (8,600) miles that is set out in Section 65-3-3.
(2) The following highway is designated as a state highway and is placed under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Transportation Commission for construction and maintenance if the City of Flowood and Rankin County provide necessary rights-of-way, including utility adjustments and movements:
Central District-Rankin County:
That two-lane portion of Mississippi Highway 468 beginning at Fourth Street in Flowood and extending to Mississippi Highway 468, a distance of approximately two and two-tenths (2.2) miles.
(3) The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall provide funds for the engineering services and construction of four (4) lanes (or five (5) lanes where needed) along such segment. The road shall be built to the design standards of the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
