AN ACT TO REQUIRE FUNDING TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL MANPOWER FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN COUNTIES AND MUNICIPALITIES WHERE CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES ARE LOCATED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

Section 1. In order to protect property, health and lives and to provide assistance during emergency situations at correctional facilities, the Legislature shall appropriate necessary funds to increase the manpower of every county sheriff's department and city police department where a correctional facility is located. The provisions of this section shall apply for counties and municipalities where either public or private correctional facilities are located.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2000.
