AN ACT TO DESIGNATE CERTAIN STATE-OWNED REAL PROPERTY AS THE LAKELAND CAMPUS FOR STATE GOVERNMENT OFFICES; TO PROVIDE THAT STATE AGENCIES, DEPARTMENTS AND INSTITUTIONS OCCUPYING PORTIONS OF SUCH PROPERTY ON OR BEFORE THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS ACT SHALL REMAIN THEREON WITHOUT BEING REQUIRED TO CHANGE FACILITIES OR LAND; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The state-owned real property located in the City of Jackson, Mississippi, in Hinds County, Mississippi, bordered by Lakeland Drive, Ridgewood Road, Eastover Drive and Interstate Highway 55, shall be designated as the Lakeland Campus for State Government Offices. All state agencies, departments and institutions occupying portions of such property on or before the effective date of this act shall remain thereon without being required to change facilities or land.
(2) The Legislature may authorize that office buildings, special facilities, garages, roads, infrastructure and other necessary support structures to accommodate the needs of state government be located at the campus. All facilities at the campus shall be designed to be compatible with the surrounding neighborhoods and other property and to preserve the outward appearance of any wooded area.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
