AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 6, CHAPTER 110, LAWS OF 1999, TO TRANSFER CERTAIN EXCESS PORTIONS OF THE MONEY IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2000 APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE TAX COMMISSION BACK TO THE STATE GENERAL FUND.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 6, Chapter 110, Laws of 1999, is amended as follows:
Section 6. The following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the State Tax Commission for the purpose of reimbursing the counties of the state, the road districts and school districts therein and the municipal separate school districts, for tax losses incurred by reason of the exemption of homes from certain ad valorem taxes under the provisions of Section 27-33-1 et seq., Mississippi Code of 1972, and for transfer of excess funding back to the State General Fund, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1999, and ending June 30, 2000 $ 78,312,029.00.
Of the funds appropriated in this section not less than Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,500,000.00) nor more than Two Million Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,800,000.00) excess funding shall be transferred back to the State General Fund.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
