AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-3-73, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT STATE EMPLOYEES SHALL BE PAID, IN THEIR DISCRETION, ON A MONTHLY BASIS OR ON A DELAYED BASIS TWICE A MONTH; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 25-3-73, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
25-3-73. From and after January 1, 2001, each state and nonstate service employee, as defined in Section 25-9-107, shall be paid, in the discretion of the employee, on a monthly basis or on a delayed basis twice a month. If such employee's payday falls on a state holiday as set forth in Section 3-3-7 or on a Saturday or Sunday, such employee shall be paid on the working day preceding such holiday, Saturday or Sunday.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
