AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF MARION COUNTY TO CONTRIBUTE A SUM TO THE CITY OF COLUMBIA FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING COSTS INCURRED BY THE CITY IN CONTROLLING THE RUNNING AT LARGE OF SMALL ANIMALS AND IN PROVIDING SHELTER, FOOD AND CARE FOR SUCH ANIMALS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of Marion County, in its discretion, may contribute out of any available funds of the county, a sum not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00), during the calendar year 2000, to the City of Columbia, or to the Humane Society or to any other similar organization domiciled in the City of Columbia, for the purpose of defraying costs incurred by the city or by any such organization in controlling the running at large of dogs and other similar small animals and in providing shelter, food and care for such animals.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
