AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF MONROE COUNTY TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS, IN AMOUNTS NOT EXCEEDING $5,000.00 PER YEAR, TO THE MONROE COUNTY SHRINE CLUB FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE COSTS OF TRANSPORTING BURN VICTIMS TRAVELING TO OR FROM THE SHRINERS HOSPITAL IN SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA, AND THE SHRINERS BURN CENTER IN GALVESTON, TEXAS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Monroe County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may contribute funds, out of any available funds of the county, in amounts not exceeding Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) per year, to the Monroe County Shrine Club for the purpose of paying the costs of transporting burn victims traveling to or from the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana, and the Shriners Burn Center in Galveston, Texas, which costs the burn victims and their families and the club do not have sufficient resources to pay.
(2) The provisions of this section shall be repealed on May 1, 2001.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
