Senate Concurrent Resolution 577
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING BRETT FAVRE UPON WINNING AN UNPRECEDENTED THIRD CONSECUTIVE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD IN THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
WHEREAS, Brett Favre was selected as the Most Valuable Player in the National Football League in 1997; and
WHEREAS, Brett Favre is the only player in NFL history to be awarded three consecutive MVP trophies; and
WHEREAS, Brett Favre was selected to the NFC Pro Bowl as the starting quarterback for the third consecutive year; and
WHEREAS, Brett Favre completed 25 of 42 passes for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns in Super Bowl XXXII; and
WHEREAS, Brett Favre completed 304 of 513 passes for 3,867 yards and 35 touchdowns during the regular season; and
WHEREAS, Brett Favre is setting the standard by which great quarterbacks will be measured; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to commend the outstanding achievements of the citizens of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Brett Favre upon being the only player in NFL history to be selected the Most Valuable Player for three consecutive years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Brett Favre.
