AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF WAYNESBORO TO IMPOSE ADDITIONAL COURT COSTS IN MISDEMEANOR CASES, THE AVAILS OF WHICH SHALL BE USED TO FUND THE CRIMESTOPPERS PROGRAM WITHIN THE CITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The governing authorities of Waynesboro, Mississippi, are hereby authorized and empowered, in their discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, to levy additional court costs in an amount not to exceed One Dollar ($1.00) per case for each misdemeanor filed in the municipal court of such city.

(2) The avails of any additional court costs imposed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be distributed by the city to Crimestoppers of Wayne County, Inc.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
