House Concurrent Resolution 141

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING CALHOUN CITY HIGH SCHOOL WILDCATS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Calhoun City High School Wildcats Boys Basketball Team finished the 1997-1998 season with an outstanding record of 31 wins and only five losses; and
WHEREAS, the Wildcats did very well in the state playoffs, winning the District 2 Tournament and the North State Tournament, finishing as runner-up in the State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the 1997-1998 Calhoun City Wildcats Team consists of players, David Draine, Tyrone Fox, Jason Gates, Jonathan Herrod, Jody Jennings, Hunter Jones, Donavon Mays, Josh Miller, DuWan Pratt, Bernard Sykes, Cornelius Wortham and Aaron Yates, and managers Danovic Mays and Kendrick Pratt; and
WHEREAS, many individuals have been recognized for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, including the naming of David Draine, Jody Jennings and Bernard Sykes to the All-District Tournament Team, the All-North State Tournament Team and the All-State Tournament Team; and
WHEREAS, the Wildcats have been superbly coached by Head Coach Henry Hogan and Assistant Coaches Bruce Coffey, Darren Coffey and Wayne Mayhan, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Wildcats have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Calhoun City High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend and congratulate the Calhoun City High School Wildcats Boys Basketball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Henry Hogan and Assistant Coaches Bruce Coffey, Darren Coffey and Wayne Mayhan for their outstanding 1997-1998 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Calhoun City High School, Head Coach Henry Hogan and Assistant Coaches Bruce Coffey, Darren Coffey and Wayne Mayhan.
