A RESOLUTION COMMENDING KATIE DICKERSON UPON HER WINNING OF THE MISSISSIPPI DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION ESSAY CONTEST FOR THE NINTH THROUGH TWELFTH GRADES.
WHEREAS, Katie Dickerson, a tenth grader at Wayne County High School, won the Mississippi Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest for the ninth through twelfth grades; and
WHEREAS, Katie is the daughter of Senator and Mrs. Tommy Dickerson of Waynesboro, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, her award-winning essay was entitled "Compare the Voyages Between Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci;" and
WHEREAS, Katie's victory in this statewide contest demonstrates her excellent writing skills and love of history; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Senate to recognize and commend excellence, especially when achieved by the young people of this state:
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Katie Dickerson upon her winning of the Mississippi Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest for the ninth through twelfth grades and wish her continued success in her academic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Katie and her family, and that copies be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
