A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THOMAS H. DYSON FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, Thomas H. Dyson, is a native of Drew, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, he left Mississippi for a time to work in Washington D.C. for Congressman Frank E. Smith and Senator James O. Eastland; and
WHEREAS, he returned to Mississippi in 1964 and accepted his first position in state government as a patrol officer with the Boat and Water Safety Commission; and
WHEREAS, in 1966 State Auditor Hamp King asked him to join the State Department of Audit, an agency in which his hard work and accounting skills saw his steady progression from field accountant to Manager of County and Municipal Audits; and
WHEREAS, he left the Department of Audit in 1984 to serve in various significant positions of responsibility in state government, including special assistant to Governor Bill Allain, Executive Director of the Mississippi Employment Security Commission, and Associate Commissioner of Audit and Finance of the State Institutions of Higher Learning; and
WHEREAS, in January 1992, he returned to the State Department of Audit to assume the position of Deputy State Auditor at the request of the newly elected Auditor Steve Patterson; and
WHEREAS, he skillfully applied his talents and extensive knowledge of the workings of state government in the position of Deputy Auditor until his retirement on June 30, 1996; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we hereby commend and thank Thomas H. Dyson for his many years of honorable, dedicated service to the State of Mississippi, and we wish him the very best in the future.
