A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO COMMEND ALLEN MARSHALL FOR SAVING HIS CLASSMATE BRITTANY PAGE.
WHEREAS, Allen Marshall is a six-year-old student at W.H. Jones Elementary School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, on the morning of Tuesday, March 25, 1997, disregarding the risk to his own person, he pushed his classmate Brittany Page from the path of an oncoming pick-up truck as she was walking to board the school bus; and
WHEREAS, but for the timely and valiant effort of Allen Marshall, his classmate would surely have been seriously injured, or worse; and
WHEREAS, Allen himself was actually struck on his arm by the side of the truck; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend citizens of this state for extraordinary deeds:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we hereby commend Allen Marshall for his heroic and selfless action in saving his classmate Brittany Page from harm, and we applaud him for the courage he displayed on that fateful occasion.
