A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. ANN MASHBURN UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE MISSISSIPPI COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Ann Mashburn, a resident of Raymond, Mississippi, has recently retired from the position of 4-H Youth Agent with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service; and
WHEREAS, Ann Mashburn was born Alice Ann Smith in Canton, Mississippi, on December 19, 1931; and
WHEREAS, Ann Mashburn graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in education, and taught at McCluer School from 1970 through 1984; and
WHEREAS, from 1984 through 1985, Ann Mashburn served as Information/Education Specialist with the Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation District, and from 1985 until her retirement in 1997, served as 4-H Youth Agent with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mashburn was recognized throughout her career for her many accomplishments, including Conservation Educator - Mississippi Wildlife Federation (1983); Conservation Educator - Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation District (1983); State Conservation Educator - Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts (1984); South Eastern Regional Winner for Conservation Educator - National Association of Conservation Districts (1984); Leader of Better than Best 4-H Club which received 1984 National Arbor Day Foundation Organization Winner and 1985 Group Environmental Award from the Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation District; and several state and national awards from the National 4-H Conservation of Natural Resources Program; and
WHEREAS, Ann Mashburn has served as a 4-H Volunteer Leader for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Ann Mashburn is married to Harvey Mashburn, Jr., and has five sons, Jack, Bill, Harold, Andy and Gene; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend the exemplary service of the citizens of this state, especially when evidenced by people who have dedicated so many years of their lives to developing and cultivating the minds of the many young Mississippians with whom they have come in contact during their illustrious careers:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Ann Mashburn upon her retirement from the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ann Mashburn and made available to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
