AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 73-43-13, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE SHALL BE APPOINTED BY AND SERVE AT THE WILL AND PLEASURE OF THE BOARD, TO PROVIDE THAT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MAY BE A LICENSED PHYSICIAN AND SHALL RECEIVE A SALARY SET BY THE BOARD SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE STATE PERSONNEL BOARD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1 Section 73-43-13, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
73-43-13. The board shall appoint an Executive Director who possesses the necessary qualifications and experience to enable him to carry out the duties required by his office. The Executive Director, who may be a licensed physician, shall receive a salary set by the board, subject to approval of the State Personnel Board, and shall serve at the will and pleasure of the board. The
Executive Director shall be vested with all the authority of the board when it is not in session, and he shall be subject to such rules and regulations as may be prescribed by the board. * * *
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
