AN ACT TO DIRECT THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT A STUDY TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF CONSTRUCTING AN ADDITIONAL TWO LANES ALONG U. S. HIGHWAY 49 NEAR CLARKSDALE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall conduct a study to determine the feasibility, from an engineering and financial standpoint, of constructing (under the Off-1987 Four Lane Program) an additional two (2) lanes along U. S. Highway 49 beginning at Clarksdale and ending at a point ten (10) miles south of Clarksdale. The study shall be completed not later than December 1, 1997, and filed with the Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the House of Representatives, and copies of the study shall be delivered to the Chairman of the Senate Highways and Transportation Committee and the Chairman of the House Transportation Committee.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
