AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE SALE OF A POCKET PAGER TO A MINOR WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE MINOR'S PARENT OR GUARDIAN; TO ESTABLISH A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THAT PROHIBITION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. No person shall sell a pocket pager or similar electronic communication device to a minor without the written consent of the minor's parent or guardian.

Any person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not less than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) nor more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
