A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE ST. STANISLAUS COLLEGE PREP "ROCK-A-CHAW" SOCCER TEAM FOR THEIR REMARKABLE SEASON AND FOR WINNING THE CLASS II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. 

WHEREAS, the St. Stanislaus College Prep "Rock-a-Chaw" Soccer Team had an exceptional season, finishing with 15 wins, 6 losses and 5 ties, recording 7 shut-outs and 34 goals for and 3 goals against and winning the title of Class II State Champions for the second year in a row; and

WHEREAS, on their road to winning the State Championship, the Rock-a-Chaws had a 9-game winning steak to end the season, captured the Class II Division 7 Championship and excelled in tournament play by winning the Sports Care Soccer Challenge; and

WHEREAS, many of the Rock-a-Chaws have been recognized for their fine play and athletic accomplishments, including the naming of Robbie Morrison as South All-Star and Justin Wadsworth, Billy Powell, Robbie Morrison, Mark Gagnon, Kile Foster and John Ourso as All-District; and

WHEREAS, the team's outstanding sportsmanship and competition consistently embodied the team's spirit and devotion to team goals, paving the way for their success; and

WHEREAS, this tightly knit group of young men committed themselves to team play, enabling them to fully tap their athletic abilities and achieve their season objectives; and

WHEREAS, the Rock-a-Chaws were well and ably coached by Head Coach Tim Burns, who was named as 1996 Coach of the Year and 1996 South All-Star Coach and Coach Andy Kivlan; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature takes great pleasure in recognizing the achievements of Mississippi's student athletes:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby congratulate and commend the St. Stanislaus College Prep "Rock-a-Chaw" Soccer Team for both a remarkable season and for winning the Class II State Championship, we praise their dedication and teamwork and we wish them success in all their future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to St. Stanislaus College Prep and Coach Tim Burns.
